Labor and Delivery
The Clinical Nurse is responsible for performing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) and delivering safe therapeutic nursing care in consultation/collaboration with interdisciplinary members of the patient care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit(s). Possesses the ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide nursing care as needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures: demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span; and possess an understanding of the range of treatments needed by patients.
Our Labor and Delivery department consists of 10 labor/delivery/recovery rooms (LDRs), three ORs, three short stay/triage rooms, and three post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) beds. We deliver approximately 5000 babies per year.
Schedule: 72 bi-weekly hours, 12-Hour, Night shifts variable, includes every other weekend.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Prefer BSN. Completion of Advanced Fetal Monitoring course within the last 2 years
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience, preferably in a center serving high risk patients.
Licensure/Certification: Current California RN License, Current AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required.
Licensure/Certification: NRP and ACLS certification within 3 months of hire and OB life support certification within 6 months of hire.
