The IS Service Leader, under general direction, is a liaison between clinical/business operations and the Information Systems department and is responsible for providing support within all aspects of the departments and their associated applications. The incumbent integrates user needs, collaborates with technical specialists, makes assessments, and implements project plans. The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to: (1) working with a project team that may include physicians, clinical support staff, and other users from a unit or department, (2) functioning as an IS escalation point for the providers and staff in the diagnostic and interventional radiology areas, and (3) assisting clinical staff and other stakeholders with new technology and workflow adoption. The incumbent manages projects or assists project managers and directors on any project tasks that include systems selection, design, database building, training, testing, activation, and post-activation efforts.

- Liaises between department end users and the IS department in discovering, monitoring, addressing IS issues and facilitating resolutions
- Collaborates with clinical stakeholders to ensure high engagement within the department and department leadership
- Facilitates or participates in user groups to maintain an ongoing understanding of business issues and needs
- Collaborates with various IS teams by participating in or leading workforce groups to identify and deploy technical and application solutions in support of best practices and enhanced healthcare operations in alignment with the hospital mission
- Collaborates with end-user workgroups and clinical operations to assess and develop organizational strategies
- Coordinates multi-functional workgroups to resolve issues and identify solutions
- Provides service recovery and performs follow-up on IS related issues or service interruptions
- Provides support for new initiatives as well as system maintenance duties to enhance patient care and increase operational efficiency
- Recognizes areas of improvement and formulates plans to address any recognized deficiencies
- Mentors and provides analytical assistance and direction to staff members within the IS department to optimize application utilization and workflows
- Manages projects and assures smooth turnover of projects both at the initiation as well as the conclusion to users
- Creates project organizational structure and team composition as necessary; facilitates communication between project team members on deliverables
- Creates and maintains regular status reports for management
- Facilitates on-going system evaluation including but not limited to: user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability. These activities would include ongoing assessment of system and workflow improvements, change communication, end-user support/education, coaching, and re-training
- Assists with training material development and performs tasks necessary to assist users with workflow and technology adoption
- Coordinates with and direct third-party vendors
- Provides IS support to clinical operations during regulatory surveys
- Communicates system downtimes and provide support as necessary.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
- Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.
- Knowledge of and experience with implementing and supporting diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology applications
- Knowledge and understanding of needs, goals, deliverables and interdependencies of various functional groups and departments in a health care environment
- Knowledge and understanding of technical disciplines including programmers, systems analyst, and networking in a healthcare environment involving multiple applications and interfaces
- Knowledge and understanding of the integration of information systems with specific organizational business needs and plans
- Knowledge of new technologies in diagnostic and interventional imaging and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
- Knowledge of patient care operations and functions as a subject matter expert on diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, cath lab and electrophysiology workflows
- Knowledge of PC applications (MS Office and MS Project) and the ability to write reports
- Knowledge of projects/upgrades impacting operational/clinical services
- Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service and collaborate with various stakeholders
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple form to cross-functional departments or teams
- Ability to research and interpret relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards
- Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job

- Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results.
