OR Nurse
The Clinical Nurse is responsible for performing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) and delivering safe therapeutic nursing care in consultation/collaboration with interdisciplinary members of the patient care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit(s). Possesses the ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide nursing care as needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures: demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span; and possess an understanding of the range of treatments needed by patients.
Department Description:
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital is a state-of-the-art 7 room Pediatric OR. We are expanding our surgical footprint with the addition of six suites, scheduled to open early 2018. Inclusive within this model of care will be an ambulatory surgical pathway, designed to support safe and efficient outpatient procedures. Every detail of the expanded space, from the family waiting area to the route out of the recovery room, sets new standards in pediatric surgical care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Prefer BSN.
Experience: 1-5 years general OR experience- Pediatric OR skills highly preferred. Candidate must be experienced in at least basic cases in the following services: general surgery, ENT, GYN, Urology, Neuro and Ortho. Familiarity with cases such as ENT airway emergencies, VP shunts, lap appys and ECMO a plus. For Cardiac Services, pediatric CVOR experience is greatly preferred. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and support on the off-shift.
Licensure/Certification: Current California RN License, Current AHA Healthcare Provider BCLS and PALS certification.
