The Stanford Children’s Health Pediatric Weight Control Program is a behavior change program that teaches tools that promote healthy eating and exercise habits for the long term, in order to prevent related illness such as diabetes. This is a nationally recognized program with one of the highest success rates in the country and is based on 20 years of Stanford’s research. The program is currently interviewing for a full time coordinator and teaching position and seeking a candidate who is passionate about working with kids to support healthy lifestyle changes.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate the enrollment of all groups offered at the Stanford Children’s Health Pediatric Weight Control Program. 
     
  • Recruit participants for the Pediatric Weight Control Program (including clinic outreach, phone calls and intake screening interviews).
     
  • Co-teach afternoon and evening 6-month classes on a weekly basis. Includes determining all logistics required and problem solving any obstacles to program implementation and delivery.
     
  • Provide support and coaching for families during individual follow up meetings following the 6 month program.
     
  • Plan and coordinate the development and implementation of  the curriculum, programs and activities that benefit the needs of the community and align with the goals of the program.
     
  • Maintain awareness of and engagement with other community organizations, outreach groups, networks and educational venues to build community relations and identify new program offerings. Teach, disseminate and present information about available programs and services to patients and physicians.
     
  • Identify resource needs (volunteers) needed to deliver and sustain optimal program results. Direct and manage the activities of others as appropriate.
     
  • Monitor and evaluate program success; modify programs as needed to maintain their ongoing benefit to both the needs of the community and families enrolling in the program.


Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Masters Degree Preferred

Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Spanish Speaking Preferred

License/Certification: CDL California Driver's License
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Conversational Spanish preferred
     
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
     
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities.
     
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader.
     
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
     
  • Knowledge of marketing and community relations, assessment methodologies, practices of planning, developing and facilitating community programs and measuring results.
     
  • Knowledge of process improvement principles and design principles.
