Job Summary

Works on system technology projects to meet the business & clinical system needs for a client group includes developing system design and interface specifications, identifying solutions to business/clinical needs and implementation of technology solutions.  Scope of the job includes technology system implementations and enhancements to existing technology systems; design specifications to support business system changes; including implementation, planning and coordination, client testing and training and ensuring  smooth turnover of projects to client group.  This position assists physicians, nurses, and other clinicians with issue resolution to the electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical applications.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Responsible for the development of proposed system design and interface specifications based on identified business needs using structured analytical techniques, employing technical and specific business knowledge
     
  • Assists in coordination of user/IS groups to identify solutions to business/clinical needs. Communicates designs to Programmer Analysts for implementation of technology solutions. Represent assigned client/application base to the IS department
     
  • Develops training, testing, and security plans to ensure design meets defined business requirements.  Coordinate plans as needed. Provide or oversee ongoing training to clients and IS staff 
     
  • Collaborate with IS and Operations in order to identify and assess organizational strategies such as work flow and systems/applications to meet clients’ operational needs
     
  • Performs in the role of project coordinator or manager for IS projects. Assures smooth turnover of projects, both at the initiation as well as at the conclusion, to support services within IS as well as in customer departments
     
  • Assists in the development of the IS Department’s policies and procedures and recommends to management suggestions for improvement
     
  • Collaborates with all departments of IS, recommends appropriate system back-up procedures and obtains management approval for back up procedures
     
  • Act as liaison between Clients and IS Department personnel in addressing problem area operating condition; includes opening, updating, and documenting resolutions in the problem management system
     
  • Provides information and is current in available health care information system applications, business conditions, and trends
     
  • Provide support of application incidents reported through help / service desk; including 24/7 on call coverage as required
     
  • Collaborate with other members of the team in managing resolution of problems and implementation of changes to the departments information systems
     
  • Uses applicable clinical experience/knowledge to analyze workflows and make recommendations
     
  • Use clinical experience/knowledge to identify and respond to urgent changes or requests that impact Patient Safety, Quality, or other federal / regulatory requirements.  

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work related field/discipline from an accredited college or university

Experience: Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and related technical or clinical work experience.

License/Certification: None

  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
     
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within third party software (e.g. Epic) to build, edit and test complex application functionality
     
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage large and complex IS projects
     
  • Demonstrated communication skills with customer and IS management including the ability to run efficient and well organized meetings and to create concise and understandable communications
     
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert in relevant health care information system applications, operational and business conditions and be well versed in industry trends

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $142,896.00 to $186,815.20
