Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford is the heart and soul of Stanford Children’s Health. Nationally ranked and internationally recognized, our 311-bed hospital is devoted entirely to pediatrics and obstetrics. Our six centers of excellence provide comprehensive services and deep expertise in key obstetric and pediatric areas: brain & behavior, cancer, heart, pregnancy & newborn, pulmonary and transplant. We also provide an additional, wide range of services for babies, kids and pregnant moms.

The primary role of the Athletic Trainer, (AT),  is to assist physicians in providing care and interfacing between our community partners and our Children’s orthopedic center sports medicine team, and working in conjunction with a team of athletic trainers. This would include:  community outreach and in-office clinical support, phone consultation and sideline care.


Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

    Coordinates outreach for the sports medicine program and oversee programmatic development with current and new strategic partners. Specifically thrives in providing the best care possible to the pediatric/adolescent athlete.

•    Establish and maintains community relations and provide educational programs/resources for coaches and community members

•    Perform initial patient assessments and screens, develop and distribute ongoing patient education information, facilitate charting, provide bracing and orthotic fabrication and applications, casting, suture removal and post-operative wound assessment and care. 

•    Develop and teach individualized home exercise program as a singular treatment or in conjunction with physical therapy during clinic visit.

•    Liaison between patient, medical assistant, physician, and office staff 

•    Assist physician with patient phone consultations and documentation  

•    Assist Physical Therapist during Sports Motion Analysis assessments and injury prevention exercises with EMG


Minimum Qualifications


Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.  
  
License/Certification: (CAT) BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
