Reporting to the Manager, Patient Admitting Services, the Supervisor of Patient Admitting Services in Main Admitting is directly responsible for supervising the staff of the Patient Admitting Department, researching and resolving operational issues related to hospital admitting functions and for recommending policy and/or procedural changes in order to streamline the admitting practices within PAS. Develops processes and training guidelines in conjunction with the Registration Quality Coordinator as well as performs as the key point-person in the management of limited-scope projects and assignments within the context of hospital and accounts receivable and customer service.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Analyzes patient admitting problems and issues as they are identified from various sources, determines rootcauses and technical aspects, and recommends and/or enacts solutions.

  • Assists Manager with coverage efforts, staff scheduling, and daily assignments. Direct and supervises the daily activities and workflows of PAS staff to ensure that the work area is staffed appropriately, breaks are taken and overtime is utilized when appropriate.

  • Attends required meetings, workshops and in-services.

  • Completes patient admission/registration process by reviewing accounts for completeness and accuracy of the minimum data set (MDS) as well as all required compliance-related documents. Obtains and documents missing information required for completion of the admission/registration.

  • Coordinates departmental activities with applicable units.

  • Interviews, registers, and obtains signatures for direct and urgent admits by visiting patients' nursing units as needed.

  • Performs Quality Reviews and provides constructive feedback to staff regarding quality and quantity of work performed.

  • Provides leadership as the Patient Admitting Services Supervisor for Main Admitting for various projects relating to streamlining the admitting process ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.

  • Provides supervision to Patient Admitting Department staff.

  • Serves as a key point-person in the planning, organizing, documenting and tracking of limited-scope projects as assigned.

  • Updates patient demographic, financial and compliance information in the Cerner system.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Associate's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • Knowledge of OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development), The Joint Commission (formerly known as JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) & HIPAA mandates.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $75,649.60 to $100,297.60
