Summer temporary position under the supervision of the RN and intern program coordinator provides patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse and assists in the maintenance of the unit environment. Participates in unit activities and contributes to unit/hospital goals. The junior or senior student nurse intern will bring basic skill sets to the unit gained in nursing school. The program will provide direct and indirect patient care opportunities for the intern to assist in preparation for future RN work life success.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit(s). Possesses the ability to collect, report and record appropriate data relative to age an to provide care needed as described in the hospital’s policies and procedures, within the scope of practice of the Nursing Assistant (Unlicensed Assistive Personnel). Defined by Title 22. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development in infants through middle adults, and possesses an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients congruent with job responsibilities.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
Meets all work agreements.(Includes but not limited to arriving on time reporting off when leaving the unit, working where assigned, following staffing and scheduling guidelines, and meeting dress code standards).
Contributes to the smooth functioning of the unit. Includes providing input to problem-solving unit issues, and supporting fluctuations in demands of unit by answering telephones, completing other duties as assigned
Assist RN; student nurse role by completing identified unit specific tasks. Unit specific tasks to be identified by unit manager include but not limited to vital sign assessment, skin care/hygiene, feeding
Attends specialized student nurse lectures and activities. Lectures include family centered care, pain assessment, JCAHO overview, risk management issues, and ancillary department overviews.
Minimum Qualifications
Have completed a pediatric rotation with a minimum GPA of 3.0. (Preferred)
Must have an overall 3.0 GPA
Submit 2 letters of recommendation
Submit a completed employment application and credentials.
Must meet the health and policy requirements of all new employees.
