The PQMS (Packard Quality Management System) Leader Fellow is a high potential individual currently working in Stanford Children’s Health or Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (SCH/LPCH) outside of Performance Improvement (PI) department, who will temporarily transfer into a PI role for approximately 6 months. The aims for this assignment are to advance the individual’s PQMS skills, to contribute to the organization’s transformation through Packard Quality Management System (PQMS) improvement initiatives, and to contribute to the continuous advancement of PQMS.
The PI department collaborates with process owners to create measureable, sustainable improvements. This position teams with PI Directors, Managers, & Analysts on assignments, as well as developing & implementing PI’s own standard work. PI reports to the VP of Quality & Performance Improvement, alongside the Center for Quality & Clinical Effectiveness.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
Works collaboratively with other PI members to provide facilitation & leadership for improvement projects & events for assigned departments.
Collaborates with operational leadership and manages process improvement programs that support various areas of the hospital.
Analyzes operational and procedural problems, and develops, recommends, and implements proposed solutions.
Collaborates in developing training curricula and materials, and participates in delivering training, such as PQMS Foundations.
Monitors the impact and value of performance improvement programs, and identifies continuous improvement opportunities.
Assists in the continuous improvement of the PI Fellowship program.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
Experience: 2 years in SCH/LPCH at an “exceeds expectations” or “outstanding” level of performance. Identified by area management as high potential for leadership positions. Practices as a PQMS leader within their work area.

Have a strong desire for self-growth.
Understand & lead by example in putting our patients & families at the center of PQMS.
Possess a basic understanding of lean principles, systems, methods & tools.
Have completed PQMS Foundations, & preferably PQMS Leader Training.
Have hands-on experience in problem solving & process improvement, not limited to PQMS or Lean (not necessarily in SCH/LPCH).
Have a successful track record of valued team membership.
Continually challenge themselves to understand processes & methods at a deeper level.
Have the humility to admit what they don’t know about lean & improvement sciences.
Be able to provide leadership and influence others, at frontline & departmental levels.
Possess the knowledge of some inpatient and/or clinic operations, and primary support processes.
Be able to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, and to instruct, persuade, resolve conflicts, & consult.
Be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups.
Be able to plan & organize their own & their team’s work.
Be competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
