Continuing Education - Helping You Grow and Expand Your Knowledge
Stanford Medicine Children's Health provides hope to patients and families by keeping pace with the ever-evolving world of health care and science. One of the ways is by providing our clinical professionals with a variety of continuing medical education (CME) programs. We do this so that they can continue to educate themselves about the latest treatments, technologies and trends in their fields. In addition to a variety of internal classes, we offer full-time employees tuition reimbursement for use towards courses. Our team members also have the option of enrolling in Stanford University programs to expand their knowledge and fulfill their CME requirements.

We offer a variety of educational benefits, including specialized training and development programs, for our outstanding nursing team. Whether you’re a new graduate seeking mentorship and advanced instruction or a seasoned nurse interested in professional growth, Stanford Children's Health has the resources and tools to help you move forward in your career.
New Graduate Nurse Residency Program
Our five-month New Graduate Nurse Residency Program provides you with a supportive network of senior-level nurses, mentors and debriefers to help augment your transition from the classroom to clinical practice. In addition to one-on-one clinical training with a preceptor, we offer class-based instruction, a skills lab, and a structured mentor program. Participants of this unique residency also receive access to an easy-to-use web portal and supportive self-care/debriefing groups.
Professional Nursing Development Program (PNDP)
PNDP was designed to promote and reward nurses who seek and demonstrate clinical excellence and provide a structured path for career growth. The PNDP features two achievement levels: Clinical Nurse III and Clinical Nurse IV, which indicate an advanced and superior grasp of the nursing practice, respectively. To reach either level, participants must meet and maintain a select set of criteria.
