JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of a Clinical Informatics Specialist is to serve as a liaison between clinical staff and Digi-IS teams. Leveraging their clinical knowledge expertise to assist in design, implementation, and optimization of the electronic health record (EHR). The Informatics Specialist provides clinical professional development expertise as an educator, leader, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and researcher to support the organization in the provision of quality patient care through design and delivery of evidence-based education, competency assessment, and innovative learning methodologies. Responsible for understanding informatics concepts to align technology with clinical workflows to improve patient outcomes, safety, and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.


*    Develops an understanding of system build in order to gain in-depth knowledge of existing workflows and to relate that to efficient workflow design.
*    Provides nursing expertise to ensure technology enhances workflows and access to patient information. 
*    Conducts workflow and needs analysis to identify areas where technology can increase efficiency and reduce waste. Uses data-driven insights to guide the optimization of nursing workflows.
*   Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development Specialists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Information Technology Digi-IS, and outside software vendors as well as  in the management, in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education.
*    Works with interdisciplinary teams to implement, configure, and maintain systems, such as EHRs.

*    Incorporates clinical research in education programs to provide a scientific foundation for professional practice, promoting a climate of research and clinical inquiry.
*    Uses current research findings and other evidence to expand knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgement to enhance role performance and to increase knowledge of professional issues.
*    Promotes and develops nursing informatics by interpreting its role for healthcare consumers, families, and others.
*    Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing informatics practice, the profession, and quality health care.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in work-related field from an accredited college.  
  • Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related clinical work experience. Previous experience in Informatics preferred.
  • License/Certification: Informatics certification preferred.

*    Ability to plan educational programs for staff with various levels of ability given
available resources
*    Ability to function as an educator, leader, consultant, facilitator, change agent and researcher
*    Ability to demonstrate LPCH leadership competencies
*    Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus
*    Ability to solve problems and identify solutions
*    Knowledge of adult instructional methods and theories, learning concepts and evaluation
*    Knowledge and understanding of the integration of information systems with
specific organizational business needs and plans
*    Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of
updates and changes
*    Knowledge of current issues and trends in health care and clinical operations in a health care system

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $56.96 to $75.52
