JOB SUMMARY

The Simulation Specialist will have responsibility for all operational functionality and overseeing support of hospital simulators (mannequin, part-task, virtual reality) and the audio-visual system used for mannequinbased simulation and Standardized Patient exercises and assessment. This position will provide technical direction and support for escalated issues and incidents. This individual will have an in-depth knowledge of the architecture of the B-Line AV system and be able to communicate between system developers and endusers (faculty, staff, etc). The Simulation Specialist will design and implement new services and features for existing systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Analyzes and plans for technical enhancements and/or new technology implementation as well as integration capabilities for all new simulators that are being considered for the hospital.
* Assists faculty with design and development of instructional curricula that use various aspects of simulation as well as develop and test simulation scenarios and activities in the conduct of funded research projects.
* Develops and trains first line users in the system, helps team members to enhance their knowledge and use of the AV system.
* Develops standard operating procedures and works with other staff and faculty on policies and procedures that are related to AV use (including P&P on archiving video, revision control of scenarios in the system, viewing rights and options, etc). Also develops quality assurance tracking and present analysis for use of technology.
* Implements updates and maintenance as well as disseminating information to users about changes and/or enhancements.
* Manages service contracts and warranties to be sure simulators will always be in working order. May need to make repairs on site or arrange for repairs. Researches and recommend simulators to hospital administrators.
* Operates the simulators and audiovisual technology during simulation sessions and conducts takedowns and cleanups of simulation and audiovisual and ancillary equipment and simulation rooms after simulation and conduct post-course documentation and archiving activities.
* Test system input of all new technology applications and recommends changes as well as oversees support, maintenance and preparation of simulation devices (VR, Mannequin, etc).
* Works with AV vendors to design new interfaces to accommodate current and future systems and designs and identify optimal workflows utilizing technology in the hospital.
* Works with team members to assist in scenario development (or provide oversight to others) into B Line AV System and run mannequin- based and SP simulations.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a work related field.

Experience: Five (5) years of directly related work experience.

License/Certification:

  • Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
  • or
  • RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support

KNOWLEDGE

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.

* Ability to anticipate needs of faculty and staff during scenarios or in preparation of scenarios.
* Ability to communicate specialized technical requirements of simulation center, including mannequin based and standardized patient needs, to programmers or other technical persons for current and future AV and IT design.
* Ability to navigate non-intuitive software and complex AV systems.
* Ability to solicit and interpret requirements from end users (faculty, staff, etc.) with vendor engineers for development or enhancement of systems.
* Ability to use video postproduction software (FinalCut Pro or similar program) and ability to edit simulation videos for educational use.
* Ability to work with a diverse population and as part of a team.
* Knowledge in running high fidelity mannequin-based simulations.
* Knowledge of both Mac and PC operating systems including, importing of mock patient information (X-rays, scans, etc.) and troubleshooting the equipment.
* Knowledge of function, setup, and operation of clinical equipment (such as anesthesia machine, ventilators, etc.).
*Knowledge of one or more simulation audio video operating systems (e.g. EMS, B-Line, in-house system).
* Knowledge of part task trainers (airway trainers, central line trainers, virtual reality laparoscopic simulators, etc.), as well as mannequin based simulators .

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $41.28 to $54.75
