JOB SUMMARY

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Defined duties are performed in neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
Conducts the following tests:
- All test required of the PFT Lab Respiratory Care Practitioner level I
- Comprehensive pulmonary function diagnostic testing, with or without bronchodilator evaluation
- Spirometry (Maximum Voluntary Ventilation)
- Oxygen Ventilation
- Hypoxic challenge
- Overnight pulse oximetry
- Actigraphy activity level monitoring
- Apnea studies
- Airway resistance
- Thoracic gas volume/lung volume (plethysmography and/or nitrogen washout)
- Diffusing capacity (DLco ' single breath)
- Cardio pulmonary stress
- Infant pulmonary function diagnostic
- Arterial blood gas procurement
- Assists Level III with other tests as needed
Additional Duties:
* Perform all essential functions required of a PFT Lab Respiratory Care Practitioner I
* Prepares Methacholine solutions for Methacholine Challenge procedures
* Assist with orientation and training of Level I therapists and respiratory therapy students
* All other duties assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Completion of a COARC approved respiratory care program
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as an RCP in an acute care facility or pulmonary function lab
License/Certification:
BLS - Certified in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

PALS - Pediatric Advanced Live Support

RCP - Respiratory Therapy License from the State of California

RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist

CPFT 'Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist

RPFT Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist
KNOWLEDGE
These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.
* Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.
* Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
* Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.
* Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of mechanical ventilation, various respiratory therapy techniques, and anatomy, physiology and pathology related to the respiratory system required.
* Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge by performing routine and complex procedures utilizing instrumentation and manual methods
* Strong analytical and organizational abilities necessary to perform multiple diagnostic tasks.
*Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities encompassed within the position. Must have the ability to adapt to changing pace within the department

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $68.62 to $77.81
