JOB SUMMARY

The Fertility Lab Manager plays a key leadership role in the daily operations of the Fertility Labs, including both the Andrology/Endocrine (REI) and IVF Labs. Under the direction of the Lab Director, this position ensures high-quality, efficient, and compliant laboratory operations while supporting staff development and professional growth. The manager oversees lab supervisors and personnel, develops and implements operational workflows, and maintains regulatory compliance in partnership with the Lab Director.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission and College of American Pathologist Requirements as they pertain to the REI and IVF lab, respectively. This includes, but is not limited to, sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

*Partner with Lab Director in oversight and administration of REI and IVF Labs.

*Work closely with the Lab Director to implement and uphold lab policies, protocols and quality standards.

*Assist the Lab Director in ensuring compliance with accreditation agencies, including the Joint Commision, CAP, CLIA, the FDA and CDPH for the REI and IVF labs.

*Lead and oversees daily operations for the REI and IVF Labs, including workflow optimization, resource allocation, and efficiency improvements.
*Supervise lab supervisors and other personnel; provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
*Ensure lab operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
*Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and clinical practice standards across both labs.

* Partner with operational and financial leadership to ensure the financial health of the Andrology and IVF Labs, including oversight of billing practices, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with organizational standards for revenue cycle management.
*Assist the lab Director in quality management such as monitoring quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and quality improvement processes, reviewing metrics and implementing process improvements as needed.
*Review and analyze lab performance data and KPIs, reporting findings to the Lab Director and executive leadership as needed.

* Act as liaison between the lab staff and Lab Director to ensure clear communication and team alignment.

*Participate in preparation for and particiaptes in audits, inspections and accreditation processes.
*Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
*Evaluate and implement new technologies, techniques, and workflow enhancements to improve lab performance and patient outcomes.
*Act as a liaison between laboratory staff, operational leadership, and physicians to align lab operations with organizational goals.
*Provide guidance to lab supervisors in troubleshooting complex technical issues and resolving operational challenges

*Other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical laboratory operations, healthcare management, or related fields, including supervisory or managerial experience.

License/Certification: CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) eligible. Technical Supervisor certification preferred but not required.

 

KNOWLEDGE

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.

* Experience in all IVF lab procedures, including sperm processing, egg retrievals, embryo transfers, vitrification and warming, ICSI and Biopsy.

* Experience in manual diagnostic semen analyses, sperm processing and cryopreservation including urology specimen processing.

*Experience and understanding of endocrine blood analyzers.

* Strong understanding of laboratory operations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in reproductive biology.

*Ability to lead, mentor, and develop supervisors and staff across multiple labs.

*Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including workflow optimization and process improvement.

*Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

*Proficiency in laboratory technology, equipment, and software systems relevant to IVF and Andrology labs.

*Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to work with physicians, staff, and leadership.

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $67.80 to $89.91
